Tibbiyot sohasida ayollar sonining ortib borayotganiga qaramay, ularning rahbarlik va akademik lavozimlarga
erishish imkoniyatlari hanuz cheklanganligicha qolmoqda. Ilmiy manbalarda ayol shifokorlarning klinik tavsiyalarga
ko‘proq amal qilishi, profilaktik hamda psixosotsial yondashuvlarga alohida e’tibor qaratishi, shuningdek, ayrim holatlarda
bemorlar uchun samaraliroq klinik natijalarni ta’minlashi qayd etilgan. Biroq gender stereotiplari, ish haqi va lavozimlardagi
tengsizlik, mikro-adolatsizliklar, ish–oila muvozanatini ta’minlashdagi qiyinchiliklar, “hidden curriculum” (yashirin
o‘quv dasturi), jinsiy ta’qib holatlari hamda mentorlik tizimining yetarli emasligi ayollar karyerasi rivojlanishini sekinlashtiruvchi
asosiy omillar hisoblanadi. Nepal, Pokiston, Livan va Yaponiya misollarida patriarxal me’yorlar, nikoh va oilaviy
majburiyatlar, infratuzilma hamda xavfsizlik bilan bog‘liq muammolar ayollarning tibbiy mehnat bozoridagi faolligiga salbiy
ta’sir ko‘rsatishi ilmiy jihatdan asoslab berilgan.
