Аннотация

This article examines the significant role of motivation in learning English as a foreign language. Motivation is
considered one of the key factors that influence students’ success, language achievement, and long-term commitment
to learning. The article discusses the two main types of motivation: intrinsic motivation, which comes from personal
interest and enjoyment, and extrinsic motivation, which is driven by external goals such as academic success, employment
opportunities, and social recognition. It also explains how motivation affects the development of the four essential
language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Furthermore, the article highlights the importance of teachers
in creating a positive and engaging learning environment through interactive teaching methods, meaningful classroom
activities, and constructive feedback. It emphasizes that supportive teachers, clear learning objectives, and modern educational
technologies can significantly increase students’ confidence and willingness to participate in language learning.
The article also addresses common challenges that reduce motivation, including fear of making mistakes, lack of practice
opportunities, and learning anxiety, while suggesting practical strategies to overcome these barriers. Overall, the study
concludes that maintaining high levels of motivation is essential for successful English language acquisition and that both
educators and learners share responsibility for creating conditions that encourage continuous learning, personal growth,
effective communication, and lifelong language development
