Vocabulary is a fundamental component of language competence, especially for school learners developing
academic and communicative skills. This study explores effective teaching methods for introducing and reinforcing topic-
specific vocabulary in English lessons at the school level. Using a mixed-methods research design, we compared
three instructional approaches–direct instruction, task-based learning, and lexical games–among 60 school learners
aged 11–13. The results show that integrating context-based and interactive strategies significantly improves vocabulary
retention and use. The study offers pedagogical recommendations for optimizing vocabulary instruction across diverse
classroom settings.
